At Jude's Driving School I try to cover as many areas as possible around Andover. However, there are areas certain areas that I just can't simply deliver driving lessons in, for example, it may be too far out from where I am located. In this case, it wouldn't be financially viable from a business sense to travel so far out of my area as this would lead to extra costs in fuel and travelling time. If you're unsure as to whether or not I can cover your area, then probably the best thing to do is to get in touch with me

Where do I take my Driving Test?

Unfortunately, Andover doesn't have a Driving Test Centre. It does have a Theory Test Centre which is located in the town centre. Therefore, you have to go to a town outside of Andover to take your driving test. There are 4 main test centres surrounding Andover and these are located in Winchester, Newbury, Salisbury and Basingstoke.

Where do you recommend?
Generally, most driving schoolsl in Andover have their favourite test centres and I am no different. My preferred test centre is in Winchester however, if you have already taken a test before with another driving school or have been driving in other areas than Winchester such as Newbury then it makes sense to continue having your lesson in Newbury. I normally have a chat with you about this and to see what you prefer.

Which car do I use for my driving test? Normally, you would use your driving instructors car for your driving test. After all, this is the car that you've been taking your driving lessons in so it makes sense to do this. However, if you've been taking your driving lessons in your own car, then you can use your own car for your driving test if you wish. Your driving instructor will advise you on this. If you do use your own car for your driving test, then you must display L Plates to the front and rear of your vehicle and you must also have an interior mirror for the Driving Examniner to use. It goes without saying that your car must meet all of the legal requirements and have the correct level of insurance if you are using your own car for your driving test.

How long does the test last? The test lasts approximately 40 minutes and will start and finish at the test centre. You are allowed to take your driving instructor with you on your driving test. The driving examiner will usually ask you this question at the beginning of your test. If you decide to take your driving instructor with you, they will sit in the back and are not allowed to help you in anyway. If they do, then the driving examiner could stop the test and this will be deemed as an automatic fail. It's not compulsory to have your driving instructor sat in the back on your driving test, this is your choice. At the end of your driving test, the driving examiner will ask you if you want your driving instructor or accompanying driver to listen to the debrief at the end of your test. Again, this is you choice and you can say yes or no. On most occassions, it's beneficial to have your driving instructor to listen into the debrief because they can then listen to the feedback you'll receive from the driving examiner and give you any guidance after your test has finished.
